Hi Zhen Yuan, if you use data validation instead of mandatory field you get an red mark on your textbox, the user can know  exactly where the error is. You configure it on the text box not on the field, that why you won't have an issue on the submit for your reference field. But If you prefer to replace your 12 fields it works too.

Hello,  Sorry for late reply, was on vacation! When i open the example you made, it gives error that some rules were not applied...Also, i wanted to see where you had submitted the rules, but i cant find them even in submit form options.

I tried the count function and it did not work on a Web based form.  Can't get the eval to work either.  Not sure how to use it.   Mike

 The problem persists on my machine as well, though no user calls yet.  I'm going to try a full re-installation of IE.
