You can set a default value on the field the control is bound to -- right click the field in the data source task pane and select properties....

Double Wow! Thanks for the quick response...but I have a complication. I'm using drop down boxes (bound to a secondary data source...a sharepoint list) and I want the user to select from the list for the first row but then (to make data entry easier) I want that second row to default to what they entered on the first row. In the example you ...

I looks like I just needed to set the trust level to Full Trust to get it to execute SP code.

Wow -- I just answered a question on this yesterday, and added a sample form to my post. The sample defaults to the first row, not the one immediately above. This sample, though, defaults to the one above. I think between the two of them, you'll be able to get this working. Give it a try and holler if you get stuck, okay?

I have a repeating table of 3 columns. Each column contains a drop down list that is bound to a secondary data source (sharePoint list). As new rows are added to the repeating table I would like to have the drop down lists auto populate their values to the value from the row above...how?
thanks in advance.

The reason for using ...

First, "create one new field, Savable. I use a boolean." did you set this to blank? Would it be bad if it was just a "text" type?
Second, "In the rules for opening the form, add a rule, Set Savable to false. The rule ...

We have to do exactly the same thing in a lot of our larger, more intense forms. We allow the user to "Save as Draft" as many times as necessary until they are happy with the form and want to submit it for approval. The key is to remove all the validation errors and then save the form. At this point you also want to disable the ...

The only way I have found to fix this, is to have the user open a New(blank) form. This works 99% of the time for us.

The way I use to do this takes work on your part, but will accomplish the goal.
I create one new field, Savable. I use a boolean. This field does not have to be visible within your form.
In each field that has a validation, I add to the validation -> and Savable is not equal to true. (if Savable is True, validation wont require ...
