Filter it on the server with a data connection pointing to a view that is pre-filtered. You can do this by making your default view filtered or by making other non-default views filtered and using the XML path to that view per this method: http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/01/15/populating-form-data-from-sharepoint-list-views.aspx

There is another thread here talking about this, and Patrick Halstead answered with two possible solutions - one where you write the code yourself and another where you can just use their WSSP product, which doesn't cost much.

+1 to Hilary. If your conditions are proper with PERFECT syntax, then this definitely will work. You have to make sure that the values for your dropdown selections are EXACTLY the same as what you put in your conditions. There's nothing specific about WS08 that relates to Forms. If your SharePoint site is built, then you can publish the form to it. You should be putting the URL to your SharePoint site where you want the form to be used. What happens when you do this?
Since your people do not have InfoPath, which means they do not have ...

That's not a normal trick, so you probably need to speak to SYM Wong-a-Ton about it - the person whose blog you followed to build this.

IP doesn't remember or care what view you were in when you saved it. It always opens to the default view unless you tell it otherwise. You tell it otherwise by setting rules in Tools > Form Options > Open and Save > Rules. This will execute rules upon the form opening, and one of the actions is to switch view, which ...

I would avoid folders and instead use metadata with grouping to separate pending and completed. This allows you to have them all in one place but still logically separated.
