Hi Navid,
You usually use web services when you have a lot of complex computations to complete and you want to push that processing onto the server instead of running it on the client. Another big concern is security. Putting a middle web service layer between an InfoPath client and, say a database or other low-level data stores not only gives ...

Hello Alexander,
You should be able to accomplish what you are trying to do with a custom ActiveX control. To get you started I have pasted the link to a tutorial below.

Hey Navid,
Yes, there is a difference. Active Directory, or AD, is a product created by Microsoft that runs on a Windows Server and is used to host a domain network where users can login with the same credentials to any computer connected to the network. I haven't worked with this product too much, but this the best way I can describe it.
The ...

I haven't worked with user roles a whole lot, but you might want to look into using our AD web service which might help you accomplish this.

I don't know how one would do this without connecting to a server to determine which number is next in the sequence. You might want to look into using a GUID which is independently and globally unique. If you're using C#.NET as your code behind you can set the field (of string type) to System.Guid.NewGuid();

Hi Char Blake and welcome to the forums!
This is an interesting problem, but to help you out we really need to see your schema and the specific problems you're having. Please provide a table for the current form schema and the database schema (or that which you are hoping to get working). A screenshot would portray this information most quickly.

This is a pretty cool idea, but I think you should be able to accomplish this via managed code. This will take a little bit of researching, but to get you started check out the .NET docoumenation around these classes:
- System.Environment
- DateTime
If you get this figured out, please post back with your results as I am interested to see how ...

Hi kelsawy2000,
I don't get your exact scenario here, but I think these two HowTos should help you get started:

Hey Mike and welcome to the forum!
I don't quite understand this problem - do you think you could paste the code here so we could look at it? Also - you might want to use SelectNodes instead of a loop with SelectSingleNode() as it sounds like you're doing.

This seems a little weird, but I think it has to do with the data in the database. The query fields specify what the query should try to match when the query is issued, so if this one ''required'' field is the column in the database that is not null or has no matching values this would happen.
