Yah, I'm not sure - the only time I get that error on a form with code from DAT is when the instance of DBXL is not in my local intranet or trusted sites in my IE settings.

Good detective work. So, one thing about rules that people don't always realize (forgive me if I am telling you something you already know) - rules fire when the field they are on changes. So if field1 is equal to B and you have a rule that fires on field1 with no conditions, it will fire every time field1 changes.... but, if you set field1 to ...

Okay, I think I get what you are saying now... sorry, it is Monday and I am very slow. :) Your rules are setting these other fields - but just clicking "New Record" does not reset them to blank. Do they get set correctly if you then make a different selection for one of the fields with rules on it?
-
So - the New Record button is supposed to clear the fields... and it returns the user to the Edit view? I've not used SharePoint List forms much....
-
That seems odd - are the text fields also submitting to the same SharePoint list? Can I see a copy of your form? You can attach it under the Options tab in a reply.
-
Sounds like the form is being cached. Can you have one of your users who keeps seeing the old form open InfoPath, go to the New menu, look for your form, right click and either take the option to get updates OR remove and then reopen from the publish location? You are publishing the updated form to your network share, right?

Wonderful, glad that worked for you. Now you can use [Me] for your approver view. Always nice to work with SharePoint instead of fighting it. ;)
-
Can you use workflow at all? Maybe promote the approver's user ID from your form to the library, then use workflow to set another field in the library (not promoted, created manually in the library settings) that IS a person or group.

Check this site: http://www.bizsupportonline.net/use-rich-text-box-infopath.htm
It says InfoPath 2007, but will be pretty much the same for 2010 and 2013.

I think you have to get the inner xml of the node - then do your replace, then set the inner xml of the node....
