Here's the first infoPath Form I created without any SharePoint List. Sending this so that you could have a look at the Lines and all the Valve Names. Like I stated my goals for this is to have a cascading dropdown where if I choose the 165L there would only be those 5 valves, but I'm stomped on how to achieve that on my form.

I'm wondering - did you create the lists just for this project? Looking at the data in the original form, where you had the values hard-coded, I do think that the list data structures could better support this if they were related differently. That is, have a lines list that has the distinct lines (no valves) - so there would be one row per ...

Ok, thanks - I can't see the data, because I don't have access to your SharePoint site, so I have to guess a bit. I've tried adding a filter to the Valve dropdown in this copy of the form, but it may take a few tries to get it right, because I can't see your data. To open this file, you need to download it by right clicking the ...

I can try! Looking at your data connection, it appears that "Valve" is a lookup on the Line list, is that correct? I think the issue you may have with your data is that we'd only have one valve that would match on a given line. We select Line from the Line data connection, and if we try to find valves that match, there would be only ...

Your Default Values list doesn't have a field with the XPath you are using. I think /dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Edoc_x002d_Delivery_Notes_x002d_ is the field you want.... copy just the filter (the part with the square braces), use the field selector to pick your field from default values, then just paste the filter ...

Hoping you can help me out a little bit more - I've used the example file and altered it as necessary to utilise in my form. It's all been done in notepad and the formatting is identical to the example you sent me but when I'm trying to add the .xml file as a data source I keep getting the below error message ...

Hey Hillary! :)
I have attached my latest XSN...the control where I am looking to trigger the auto-populating Edoc values is called "Use_Default Edoc_Values". The first field of 18 that I want to auto-populate is called "Edoc_Delivery_Notes".
Thank you SO MUCH for taking a look! ...

I don't see any multi-selects? Did you maybe remove the view that had the issue? I just want to look at it in design mode, because I'm having trouble understanding your question - it is easier for me to understand when I can see the form. :)

Hello, I'm working with a new form that will need to utilise a cascading list. In order to get my head around this, I've been trying to use the "How To" guide on creating a cascading list from a flat data source but I'm encountering problems just going through the guide. I've copied the code and pasted into a ...
