I'm not sure what you mean about data connections - is your form database bound (i.e., created off a database?).
At any rate, a set of radio buttons is all bound to the same node. So if you require separate fields for each option for some reason, you will be stuck with using conditional formatting as described above.

Well, the drop down is using a ShP list for its values, right? So you could use the ShP ID for the value and whatever column you want for the display. Then you have the ID number in your main data source.

If I have data connections associated w/ each checkbox ... will radio buttons work the same way?

Hilary, That's very good to hear!
I did some experimenting based on your instructions, and found something interesting. When I do a hard-coded test, the index and ;# alone seems to work. For example, if I have a lookup column in my SharePoint list that's called OfficeLocation, I can add a new entry to that list simply by including ...

Why not use radio buttons instead? They work this way by default - only one can be selected at a time.
But sure, you can do this with conditional formatting. On Checkbox 2 &3, have conditional formatting that disables them if 1 is equal to true. On Checkbox 1 & 2, have conditional formatting that disables them if 3 is equal to true. ...

Do you know a way to check if there are validation errors without reconfiguring validation for each field?
I want to disable the Submit button until everythign is validated, but I don't want to recreate all the validation rules that are already set in each field/control. Is there some sort of flag stored in infopath that lets you know ...

I think you can - it is just a matter of syntax.
You need to submit the data in the format that the lookup expects - SharePoint list item ID, semicolon, pound symbol, and display value (although it may be possible to just submit the ID, you should experiment with this). For example, 1;#mydisplay
I'm attaching a screenshot from an owssvr.dll ...

Ok, I figured out how to grab the data from the xml source using the expression box. Now the only problem I will have is using a specific xml file which is dependant on a user selection.
User selects option A from drop down list
Form loads rules specific to option A
I want to do it this way because I don't want to have to use ...

I currently have built a form in InfoPath that shows/hides three subsections (Admin Request, Move Request, User Request). In each of these subsections is an individual drop down for server selection (they don't share the same source). On my sharepoint site, I want to be able to just show one column for any selected server within those ...
