In this case, the translate() function would replace all of the &s with spaces and remove all of the ns bs ps ss and ;s.

InfoPath doesn't provide a good way to do multicharacter string replacements, unfortunately. Another forum user asked about ...

It should be possible to pull this off with a single rule action and no conditions. As you've discovered, concat("../my:comm_1text/my:comm_", .) won't work because that just produces the text value ../my:comm_1text/my:comm_X.
How about something like this:
../my:comm1_text/*[local-name() = concat('comm_', ...

Regardless of the underlying implementation, Filler and Designer serve completely tasks. Designer is a tool for creating InfoPath forms and Filler is a tool for filling them out. Neither is a restricted (or "castrated") mode of the other. They are two completely separate execution modes of the InfoPath ...

I think you may be misunderstanding how repeating tables fundamentally work. If you'd be able to post a sample here of what you have and explain clearly what you'd like instead, I'm somewhat confident that we could show you a way to do it.

I don't really understand your latest comment. The repeating tables in the two different views are completely separate controls and can have their own filtering, so you would just set up one with the appropriate filter criteria for that particular view, and likewise for the other. Or am I missing something?

Do you need to be able to populate the repeating table with data from the secondary data source, or just display a read-only table of the associated data? For the latter, all you would need is a filtered repeating table that's bound to the secondary data source. The former is a bit trickier, but there are probably ways to ...

Server-side filtering of DB data is a common issue that comes up in InfoPath form development and we have developed some approaches to allow people to do this without writing their own code.
qRules provides a command called ExecuteSqlQuery that allows you to modify the SQL query for a secondary data source and perform filtering by doing ...

In your case, this should do the trick:sum(field2) + sum(field5) * SwitchPage

As I've already said, InfoPath doesn't have a good built-in solution for that scenario. The best suggestion I can give you is to give qRules a try. Is your form a list-based form or a general-purpose form that interacts with a list?
-
InfoPath doesn't provide a good way to do this, which is why we added it to qRules. qRules' ReplaceString command can replace multicharacter parts of strings with other multicharacter parts (e.g. replacing " " with "%20"), but even better in your case would probably be the Encode command, which can URL ...
