You can add the connection to the XML file there and if you are still using IP2003 you don't have to worry about caching since it isn't supported. Do the same thing you are doing to the Command node, but do it to some other field that you can display in your form.  You can temporarily create a new field if you don't have one that you can temporarily use for that purpose.
