Any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?  I've bumped up my diagnostic logging for IPFS in central admin.  But when I turn on anonymous access and verify the failure, no messages are kicked out to the event viewer (none regarding forms services, anyway).

I am sending my form through Outlook and putting control buttons in sections make them read only when they are received via email.  Is there another way to hide an option button besides using sections?

Thank you for the quick reply. I was able to change the column to a text type, and the people picker value submitted with no problem. I think in the end i am going to create a field to add the necessary characters, and then map that field to the list. Thanks, jason

Okay - here's the trick to submit data to that type. Your data needs to look like: -1;#JDoe That is, a minus1, a semicolon, a pound sign, then the user account id. This error occurs when you SharePoint field is a data type that is different from the data you are submitting. Let me guess - is your SharePoint column a Person or Group?
