Hi Jay,
You could use the Database Accelerator for your compromise solution. It's a code-less solution.
Anyway, to respond to your original post ... thanks for the repro steps. I think you have a new scenario here. I have never heard of anyone binding to the data sheet in that way and I wonder if it is even supported. There's probably some ...

The other option is to encapsulate the functions in a web service that you call.

No, unfortunately, you will need to add the same vbs file to all of your solutions. You can convert to a VB.NET assembly that you include which is slightly better, but there is not a good way to share code today.

Oops looks like we didn't follow-up. Sorry about that. People pull the unique number from the SharePoint form libraries all the time. We have written code to do this. I need to go find it... just a minute.

Hi again,
Hmmm. This seems pretty simple. If you are setting up your form to submit from the main data source (#1) then the xpath in your code to populate from System.Environment.Username (#2) isn't correct. It will have to change to reflect the schema that was created for the main data source when you created your form to point to your Web ...

Hi Mark,
Well, that's a good point. We developed the Database Accelerator because this was one area where there was a gap in Microsoft's intuitive design ... :) Anyway, it should be easy to setup the evaluation version. Just run the install and follow the setup instructions.
