I'm not sure what "difference" is in your formula - is it a field in your form?
At any rate, something like this:
concat("ABC - ", max(@ID) + 1)
Should work, being certain to pick the ID field using the "Insert Field or Group button in the formula editor.

Hi Clayton Cobb
I am using the UserProfileService and getting the 5566 error. Can you please troubleshoot this issue with me?
It works in InfoPath (form preview) but not published as a browser form. This is a SharePoint custom list form and I have created the Data Connection library with the .udcx file.
Please help.

Cool. And yes, if your rule uses a formula (e.g. the concat() function or anything), you must enter the formula in the formula builder, even if you build it somewhere else. If you paste it into the dialog you're showing in your screenshot, it will just be treated as a text value and won't work.

Hi Paul,
is this only experienced when a client is calling a webservice for the first time? If it is --- this is caused by the fact that by default a XmlSerializers dll for the webservice needs to be compiled. This is causing about 5 seconds for the initial call. In this case I don´t know a solution for this issue.

Jimmy,
Just resolved this myself. Basically, I frequently use a text editor to work out the formulas and functions to input into the value text box in InfoPath 2010.
However, sometimes this works and sometimes it does not. But as a tip to others, ensure that you input your functions using the 'fx' builder in the 'Set a ...
