That didn't work for me but I did check out some tutorials online and found out how to reference other fields that have been filled in. Unfortunately I still cannot highlight any text other than the user-accessable fields, so it's impossible to copy & paste the text. What I need is for the filled out form to be saved to a ...

As I said, the /filter should be the name of the SharePoint List column you wish to filter on. Using your example, I'd guess:
concat("FilterOwssvr /dsname=FilterOwssvr /filter=listempnumber /value=", .)

Thanks for the feedback. I tryed this but it's not working. I am probably setting it up wrong. It had the effect of temporarily displaying a no decimal place number but it displayed the new value in addtion to the existing list, not in place of it and then it when away when another selection is made...
FYI when a selection is made ...

James, if you changed some fields in your schema from non-repeating to repeating, then those are completely new data fields that are not the same as the old ones, so the data can't be expected to be there. You initially said you just updated data connections, and that should have had no effect on existing data, but changing the ...

Hi:
/filter is the list field - sounds like you are filtering on the employee number - if that is in your secondary data source in IP, it is everything after ows_
The /value was assuming the rule was being set on the field in the form that the filter should be run for - is that correct in your form? "." is the XPath shorthand to ...
