I've never had this happen. Worst case, I suppose you could open your form library in Explorer view? The template is in the Forms folder.

ahh... when it rains it pours
When I go into the form library \ library settings \ advanced settings \ document template
I use to have a link there to 'Edit Template'. That link has disappeared (it actually shows for a micro-second and dissapears). I had this happen in 2007 but never connected that it may have had something ...

Most likely you still have a rule pointing to the old data source. You can see the rules in the manifest - and the XPath is probably different between the two data connections. Save a copy of your form first, of course!
Oh, and you may also be able to use the Rule Inspector (Logic Inspector in IP 2007) to help find this, if you want to use ...

One more question...
I am using qRules because I have a large list and it was not loading inside infopath. The form was built and ready to go before I received all the data.
Now I have gone through and removed all the references to list using the standard SharePoint data connection. but when I tested the form I received: ...

Generally the issue in a case like this is that the data is not actually equal. The data from the secondary data source may be slightly different than that which has been entered into the form.
However, this worked for you for setting field values based on a rule, so I'm surprised it isn't working as a filter. Are you getting all rows ...

If you use an expression box (calculated value) instead of a textbox, that should allow for auto-width. An expression box can't wrap around to a second row of text, but it should solve your problem to some degree.

I have the following evaluation form I am working with. At the top of the form, I have a drop down menu where you choose how many people are evaluating the person...1,2, or 3. I would like the option buttons for evaluator 2 and 3 to only show up when 2 or 3 is chosen in the drop down menu. When setting a new formatting rule for ...

The easiest way to explain this is to attach a picture of the problem:
The only formatting option I can find in the context menus is to allow for word wrap but that won't work because it allows the text box to grow taller, but not wider. Is it possible in InfoPath to tell a reference field to grow to the size of the entered text?
