Seems like you're on the right track with the "backup" field. I would start with create 4 additional temp fields, one for each of the people pickers and copy the accountid fields to these. This way you can differentiate between all different people picker fields.
Promoting people picker fields can be sticky and may ...

At submit time, you can have rules fire so that it does a check against your list to see if there is an existing invoice number. You'll need a secondary data connection to the list and then do a query on the invoice number to see if it returns any results.
Another option is that you could also create the invoice number on submit to ...

Hi,
When setup email submit, the Introduction box for the email is text only. Is there any way we can put a field value or let the user modify the email massage when they submit the form to an email address?
Thank you!

I'd use two expression boxes (calculated values IP 2010) for item 1. One has text saying Yes. The other has text saying No. You can use your XPath above to conditionally format them - hide if the Yes box if the field = false, the No box if the field = true.

I had done what you suggested last night. I broke the list up into multiple lists (by category; that's what the set query field was setting), just to rule that part out. So now the rule just queries the list (which I need to do since I don't query on form load).
All the set value rules after the copy have been disabled for ...

To start troubleshooting this, I'd temporarily drag the data connection you made to the document library workflow columns onto the form and make sure the values are what you think you they will be. Generally, when I have troubles with conditional formatting, it is because I'm misunderstanding what the values are.

To start with, I would try to figure out if one particular rule action is slow. So, disable everything after the Query - how's the time?
Then, add the Copy Table rule back - still slow?
What makes sense to me is first figuring out if it is copy table that is slow, or if it is the query. When you copy the table, is the data displayed on the ...
