You have Query fields in your SharePoint list connection, so I'm assuming you are using ShP 2010. Do you happen to be using InfoPath 2010 / SharePoint 2010? And have Excel services installed on your SharePoint server? If so, you can actually use your Excel sheet to return the data to your form via web services instead of needing to write code for this...

i have about 10 check boxes in a custom table, i want to count the number of selected check boxes, i.e where the value is equal to 1(checked). do i have to add each field (field1 + field2 + field3) and set filters or is any other simple way for doing this.
