Hi Dan and welcome to our forum,
I could be wrong but this sounds like the often requested xpath trickery found in the following HowTo:http://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tips/default.aspx?i=2d9c464bbf4146ae91bf66395dca34ad . If not, let me know. I'm not sure this is just a reference issue, so please respond if I am jumping to conclusions.
For the ...

Hi DavidvanderKooij and welcome to our forum,
I feel like I don't completely understand your question but let me respond anyway ...
First, you can have a dashboard webpage that displays data from your database. And, you can have some code in a button on this webpage that generates an XML stream for that data and inserts a processing instruction ...

Hi Qwer,
That's a dangerous precedent. Because even if you trust one another, do you all trust one another's e-mail? What happens if someone clicks on a link to an XML file that installs an XSN that is full trusted and which then decides to stomp all over your hard drive? I wouldn't do that. Sure there is a way and it's documented in chapter 8, ...

Hmmm... I think I'm confused, but I wonder if you could have a repeating section with a page break at the top. Each section has a repeating table bound to same location in schema but with different display offset (this might require some trickiness). Clicking the hack button just inserts another repeating section, page break, header and all. Not ...

Hi Qwer,

Then you can get @name which ''provides a unique, Uniform Resource Name (URN)–based name for the form that the .xsf file defines.'' This is all documented in the SDK which is a great read. If you haven't looked at it, please install the InfoPath SDK and have ...

Hi Vidette,
The link is below but I just realized that we have to extend the time bomb as it has recently expired. Please send me e-mail separately, and I'll let you know when the updated version is ready.

OnAfterChange should do the trick.
Rich text box insertion requires well formed xhtml. This is tricky and there have been many posts on it. Try searching the forum here or look at the Microsoft blog. I believe someone has done this, but I don't have the link handy.

Hi Julie-Mids,
Superb sleuthing job! I remember working on the Issue Tracking form over three years ago... :) Glad it's still useful!

Hi Tim,
The layout changes is really weird. Can you be slightly more specific? Are you sure that the machine hasn't been set to use large fonts or something? That can change it.
As for the ActiveX frustration, why not just use a file attachment control or a link control?
I agree that ActiveX can be frustrating, but the problem may be your ...

Sure, you can put a try/catch around the section that is accessing the computer resources, parse the exception message and display an alert with the message you want. Of course, this requires C# but it's easy to do.
