Drag the data fields from your data connection onto your form canvas, and preview. Perform whatever action you need to in the form to execute the query. Do you then see data in the secondary data connection in your form?

I replace a Submit button on the form with "Rule a custom code" button. It displays in preview mode, but doesn't reflect when form is published. It still displays the old copy of the form. How do I resolve this issue?   Thanks,

Yep, you are right. It didn't happen the first time checked, but it is working now. Maybe the delay had something to do with moving the whole list from one site collection to another then enabling it to work with InfoPath. Thanks for the reply.

My understanding is that if you use InfoPath to edit the list form in ShP 2010, that same IP form is used for new / edit / display, instead of the 3 SharePoint forms. You could probably use some conditional formatting if you want different behavior between new and edit - based on whether required fields are filled out when the form is opened....
