The way to do this is using ''conditional formatting''. For each field you can set conditional formatting to make a field read-only based on another field or a role. With roles you have to know the user's login names. However, you can add a rule on the submit button to set the status value of a hidden field on the form (a node in the data ...

It is also possible that there are so many fields with default values calculating and updating that the view is having to do a lot of repainting. How many columns do you have in the table and how many of the fields are calculated?

The problem is that in InfoPath anything typed in the field is just stored as plaintext in the XML document. So anyone could see the data. You could use digital signatures which would be the most secure and reliable method.

Hi Shadi,
Welcome to our site. What you want to do is set a ''Default'' value using A formula on the target field. For example if you have:
quantity, amount, total fields
Double-click the total field, then set the ''default value'' using the formula dialog as the quanitity field * the amount field.

By the way you may want to check out our new RegForm command line tool to help write the correctly formatted command line. It is at:

This is an interesting scenario. When we originally designed this all the examples we saw were for weekly timecards. I'm curious what your scenario is that you need to submit two weeks at a time. Thanks. :)

You could also use rules for this if you like. This is described in:http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1956
It's not obvious, but using rules on a button you can submit to two data connections at the same time (two separate rule actions) without having to write code.

Note, it's not always obvious but using rules you can actually setup two submits to happen one after the other. I suggest doing the save to SharePoint first and then the email submit. This is because the email submit requires user intervention and so it's better to get the SharePoint one out of the way first.

Hello, welcome to our forum. I noticed that your post has a lot of views but no replies. Creating custom merge is a very complex area in InfoPath which is probably why no one has ventured to answer your question yet. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. It's not easy to do. Hopefully my response will pull this back to the top and get one of ...
