• Re: Populate Text box after form load

Having wasted a day and a half messing around with code on this, I found out that if I set the Default Value for the field in Tools>Default Values then it works. Could anyone explain the difference between setting the Default Value here, and setting the Default Value in the Data Source taskbar?

  • Populate Text box after form load

Hi, I have a form template based on a webservice. As part of the form load procedure, the form will try and submit a GUID to a database, if it doesn't contain a GUID, i.e. it's a blank form, then the webservice creates a row in the database table and the form populates it's datafields with the data in the new row. However, for this ...

  • Concatenate fields to populate drop-down list values

Hi all, I have a form that has several repeating sections. The first repeating section is a client detail section. The other sections all contain a dropdown box that looks up values in the forms data source to populate it's values. I want to be able to concatenate the clients first name and surname when populating this drop-down list if ...

  • Re: How to remove popup/tooltip like "Cannot be blank"

So I have a form template based on a webservice that feeds off a dataset. So any field in the dataset that cannot be null requires filling in. Because the datasource is outside of Infopath, the only way I can turn off the validation for each Field would be to allow nulls in the database which is a risky approach. Are we serious when we say ...

  • Repeating Sections, Optional Sections and webservice datasource

Hi I have a form that has a webservice as it's main datasource. There are several tables on a database that have been made into a dataset for the webservice to read and populate into the forms datasource. Each table represents a section of the form that I want to use as a repeating section, so that more than one record can be entered into ...

  • Re: GUID's and repeating sections

Sorry to bring up my old thread, but I've run into a new problem along the same lines. I have a form that has a webservice as it's main datasource. There are several tables on a database that have been made into a dataset for the webservice to read and populate into the forms datasource. Each table represents a section of the form that ...

  • Re: Controls without Datasources

I was able to right click on the right node and add a group, from which I was able to create an optional section. Not sure whether this will present any further problems when it comes to submit/receive but will be back again if it does. I have to have them in Optional sections, as there is validation required on the fields and as such, if the ...

  • Re: Controls without Datasources

Thanks, my thoughts were that it would have to be through a secondary datasource. Any idea what the xml file would look like for an Optional Section? THanks

  • Controls without Datasources

Thanks for reading my post. I've created a form that uses a Webservice as it's main datasource. The webservice is connected to a SQL database that contains various tables, each of which represents a different part of the form. There is a client table and the form has the "Client" section that relates to it. I then have ...
