Oh that is going to be tricky - because of the two different data sources, both repeating data, and InfoPath doesn't out of the box offer any way to merge things. We sometimes use show / hide formatting to work around this - so your "previous" data would only show on a button click and you can query specifically for it..... ...

How do users find the items they wish to edit? In the list itself? I'm wondering about having a link to the item w/ the source param appended in the list for them to click to open the edit form, so you could use a calculation to get the right ID for the URL.

Wonderful - I've actually never used an external item picker, so didn't have any suggestions for you, but I am happy you posted your work around. :)

I think you could do this manually in the manifest.xsf file - you don't really have anything to lose. Save a copy of the form, and save as source files. Create a new form using the SQL DB you want to use for your main database connection, and then you'll be able to compare the manifest.xsf files to see what you have to change.

It is going to be hard to do this with a multi-select. They are bound to a repeating field & if you add an attribute to that field for your email address (for example), InfoPath won't include the attribute when creating a new node (i.e., when a new item is selected in the multi-select).
