It sounds like the issue is with the other button's conditions and rules.
Are they set to submit or to perform rules?
-
So you are saying it creates two files with the same name?
When you look in the library at both files what do you see? The field must be changing.
-
I do not believe this is a real issue.
I believe this is how you are naming the files.
If the file name changes then it is going to add a new file rather than replacing the original.
What is your naming scheme?
What is the original file name? What is the new file name?

You cannot disable it, that is why using your own button and not the toolbar button is preferrable.
I assume you are referring to the button in the toolbar as the "built in".
You can use conditional formatting on any button in the view.
Otherwise use validation on the control or field and the toolbar button will still be active but ...

Great Questions Marc.
You will reap a lot of benefits doing the research up front and planning this out rather than diving in directly.
There is some preference and flexibility in what you have laid out but I will give you my take on this.
What I look at is the data source. If a form uses the same base data, than it should probably ...

Add a login in SQL and then add the permissions.
Then in the UDC you can edit the xml and add the credentials I beleive.
-
The basics would be just to set up a new form, with the data connection to load when opened, and then just dump the whole data set on a view as a repeating table to verify the data is being pulled in and the issue is not in script.
-
Any reason why you are doing this in code rather than rules and actions.
You can submit and close the form there too.
You can use an .Alert("Done") in code to generate a message box if you want.
I believe you would receive an error if there was a problem but not sure how you can provide a confirmation.
Typically I always copy the ...
-
That should not be a problem.
I would verify the permissions on the view in SQL for the user's account, that is the most common.
Is this a secondary connection or a main data connection? Are you actually sending a query parameter?
Another test would be to create a new blank form and see if that works, that would tell you if the issue is in ...

Not sure if they are saving or submitting the form.
Under Submit options you can specify your own messages for success and failure.
The other thing is to put conditional rules and messages which trigger when they click the submit button but before the actual submit so that you can alert them more specifically to validation issues.
