Hilary, I'm working on it now. When I try to build the concat function, I get the error:
"preceding-sibling::FileAttachment" does not point to a valid location path of a field or group.
Here is a copy/paste of my formula:

There was a
phantom infopath.exe process running. I killed it.
I
reattempted the install and received a different error. When InfoPath launched
during the install the initial setup wizard ran, prompting for user name,

I've looked all over and can't seem to find the option to disable the raised border around an active field when the form is in preview or fillable mode. I'm sure it's staring right at me, I just can't seem to locate it.......Any ideas? Thanks.

The id is getting in the xml - I have it displayed at the bottom of the form with other 'diagnostic' data... and I disabled the other rules in order to check exactly what you mentioned.
thanks.

How are you determining the user's role? Do you have a way of querying active directory, are you querying a SharePoint list that contains a list of users and roles?
I think that's the tricky part. The rest is easy, since InfoPath provides a way to add Formatting logic, so you can disable a field if a certain condition is satisfied.
