To autofill a user name, you should use rules to set the field. So in your form load rules, query for the data, then add a rule to set the value. Add a condition to your rules to only run if that field is blank - then you don't overwrite the user's name. I don't like using default values for this type of thing - not enough control. :)

I'll set up a test form later today and see what happens on my SharePoint site if I send an email from a list form. This is SharePoint 2010?

Switch to using GetUserInfo and populate the query field with the user name (from the InfoPath user name function) on in a form load rule, then run the query. When you set up the data connection, don't set it to run on load. If you are using claims auth, you may need to use a substring-after function to clean up the data returned from the user ...

Sort of. :) You can add rows by default & then show only those needed. Simple sample attached, save the file locally, right click and select design & then preview.

How frustrating. And is this in all browsers? Or just IE? Since you say SharePoint 2013, I'm assuming this is not Office 365 - is that correct, that this is an on prem server? I do see in Edge & IE that line spacing is wider than in client in a quick test form, but I'm not seeing the issue with words cut off or not wrapping. Oh! and ...

You actually would have to copy in the inner XML, which InfoPath is not going to do for you out of the box. Do you just want the user to be able to see this data? If so - you could use another RT box bound to the same field, set to read only.

And have you tried switching the order of the rules? So it submits to email first then to the list? Have you tried changing from submit rules to regular rules? If you add a button that only executes the email submit, does it succeed?

Any chance I can take a look at your form so I can see the rules? You can attach a template under the "Options" tab in a reply.

Dumb question - you've verified the field that is the "to" for the email is populated?

Maybe change your submit button to use custom rules instead of being a "submit" button. Add just the rule to submit the form to the list - see if that works. If it does, add your rule to submit to email again. That way you can at least troubleshoot the issue. All your required fields were filled out when you submitted?
