You need fields to be in the default view to be available but I do not beleive the choice fields are supported. They are kind of a hack and only work for SP.
You would need to use seperate fields to get the data to InfoPath.

Check out layout tables.
I think this is what you are looking for.
Also you should create a second view that will be the print view.
That way you can keep the form design for electonic input but also format the data to fit on the page. In view properties you can set the print view to be used when they print the electronic view.

Unfortunatley this is how secondary data connections are handled in InfoPath, all data is loaded and then filtered in the form.
I am surprised that the performance was tolerable even in the client.
But their is a solution.
You need a webservice which can query SQL and just return the record or set of records you want, and ...

Yah there is no popup option in the browser.
What I have done for alerts and messaging like this is to create a hidden section and a message field.
When the field is set with text then it becomes visible and has some coloration to draw attention.
Not quite the same, but effective to place it adjacent to the submit buttons and to post validation ...

Sure, that would be best practice.
Create a submit data connection to your SP Library.
Set the file name as concat(first, "-", last) or what ever.
Then set your submit options or add a rule to a button to submit with this DC and close.

You can have multiple views, configured however you want.
Best practice is to break your paper-based thinking and use more of a wizard style collection.
Use multiple views and a next button which takes the user to the next view for completion. You can also conditionally hide sections or items so that they are not visible unless needed based upon ...

Welcome to the world of InfoPath :)
Default DB functionality will not accept large file types like the signature.
You need a web server and then you can setup a submit data connection, create a naming convention form the form data, and each form will be uniquely named as you want. Contractor company-name-timestamp or something.
You have kind of ...

Are you referring to whether to print in one of these layouts.
I believe you would need to create a print view for each layout and then allow them the option to switch via a button to either view and then print.

I would look at www.qdabra.com to see how this would typically be architected in an enterprise.
I beleive they can actually show you an example of a InfoPath timecard solution built as you describe.

Hi There.
You do not need code to do this.
Just create a data connection to the data source which contains the student data.
Then you can filter that list to find the particular student and set fields based on their input.
