It is my understanding that once you sign a particular section, that you cannot change it without removing the signature first. Thus, since you have a repeating section (that has been signed), adding an optional section inside that repeating section would invalidate the signature on that repeating section. That's why you are not allowed to do ...

Your errors are comming from these two lines:
moveListItem(oFromList, oFromItem.text, oToList, oToItem.text);
public void moveListItem(IXMLDOMNode oFromList, IXMLDOMNode sFromItem, IXMLDOMNode oToList, IXMLDOMNode sToItem)

Yes, please try the latest IE version. As stated earlier, this sounds like an MSHTML.DLL fault and not an InfoPath.exe fault. InfoPath relies heavily on MSHTML to render the views to the screen.
For reference, my InfoPath 2007 version is: 12.0.6214.1000 SP1

The place to look is here: faulting module mshtml.dll. This indicates that there's a problem with Internet Explorer -- not InfoPath which uses IE as a rendering engine.
Do you have all your latest updates installed? My Help | About screen shows IE version as 7.0.6001.18000
