Hi garnerish,
Welcome to InfoPathDev.
I understand that you are unable to manipulate your form's file attachment's properties, so I am assuming that the attachment field is bound to a database schema. Best practice for cases like this is to create a form using XML schema in order to have full control. You may check this forum thread for ...

Hi,
I tested out your form and it seems to be bugged. It seems that the set value error message is triggered by the condition that the field should not be blank. I'm not sure what is causing this. But when I removed the condition, the set value rule worked. Please check the modified form attached.

Apologies for that. I'm attaching a 2010 version of the form. Basically, I used a combination of substring-before and substring-after functions. To get the first string before the first dash (-), I used substring-before(field1, "-"). Then, using that formula, I used substring-before(substring-after(substring-before(field1, ...

Hi,
I did a test by accessing the form's manifest xsf file and modifying the target value to use a following-sibling function. You may want to check out this technique.

I'm also attaching a sample form you may use as your reference (download xsn > right click > open in design mode). Hope this helps.

Hi Frankie,
To my understanding, you are trying to set another drop down field's value based on another drop down field. Is that correct? If so, is there by any chance the values of the second drop down (the target drop down field) are not equal to the values (not the displayed value) of the initial drop down field? I'm not ...

Hi Matthias,
Are you working with a SharePoint environment? If so then you can make use of the GetUserProfileByName web service. Please check these options below:
Codeless approach: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/23994/83185.aspx
qRules approach: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/bre_huston/archive/2013/11.aspx
Hope this helps.

Hi sbiju7,
I have here a sample form which demonstrates how to copy a row from a repeating table onto another table without code. Hope this helps.
