This week is the MVP Summit at Microsoft. Please be patient! :)
Using a Web Service is a best practice. Have you considered storing the XML as a blob in the database? That's what we do. Our Web service then maps the XML blob to the database tables and maintains the mapping.
Just my 2 cents,

If you can't wait until the next release of SharePoint and InfoPath, you could use our SharePoint list mapper but it's a fire-and-forget model. In other words, you cannot edit the list items after you save and then reopen the form and expect the XML to be updated. If that's fine, send me e-mail and we can post the tool. We need to post ...

Hey Ryan,
Glad to hear you've discovered secondary data sources (2DSes). We love these for a variety of reasons (most because they're fast and useful for meta data like guidance text, workflow status, etc.). They do pose some limitations (eventing, validation, etc.). Check out our free qRules download for commands that help you copy ...

Hi Phil,
Have you looked at Qdabra's Active Directory Web Service? http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/ADWebService.aspx
It comes pre-bundled in the free trial of the Database Accelerator: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/core_documents/entry38256.aspx .
You could install that and try it for free. We have numerous videos ...

Hi TheKing,
It sounds like you have developed a database-backed form. Many people do this and experience numerous problems:
When form's data source is extended , new fields cannot be mapped into database
Database changes invalidate the form and require you run "Convert Main Data source". Old XML data may no longer ...

Hi Ian,
The example in the SDK is a good track to be on. I have no idea what XSL you are talking about. You will have to create one or maybe use one from the SDK example. Anyway, the XSL file that maps from your XML schema into Word is going to be the pain in the neck to create. If you have one, you are on your way. Not sure you have one though ...

Hi again,
Well, it's going to take you some time to develop a data driven survey. We know InfoPath better than anyone (including Microsoft since we were the ones that build InfoPath v1.0 for Microsoft). Anyway, we spent 4 years perfecting our data driven survey. It's an amazing solution, but I totally understand that you are your own ...

Hi Johnny and welcome,
This is a very common request. There are lots of posts on this topic. Search under "Auto number ID" and page through the results.
Some quick advice: in order to synchronize sequential numbering among all of your "submitters" you need to generate the ID on a central server. In other words, the forms ...

OK, well, we have done data driven surveys before. Typically what we do is use repeating sections with repeating sections or tables inside of them. There is some recursion and typically we limit to 4 or 5 levels deep. No need to write code for the XML structure. Make sure you start using XML schema and not the schema derived from a DB or Web ...

When you add a digital signature to your form or a section, the main data source is modified. For example, a <my:signatures1> group will be added underneath the myFields root and for each section that you sign a separate signature group is added underneath. When a signature is added a <my:signature> element gets added underneath the ...
