• InfoPath 2003 limitations ?

Hello all, I'm setting up my first InfoPath 2003 form and have come across a lot of limitations where I didn't expect there to be limitations (i.e., the limitations are related to things that I considered very simple in concept). Here are the latest two scenarios: I have a 'Signoff' form field that is connected to a receiving ...

Hi guys, Thanks a lot for the quick responses. I looked up the ADService product, but unfortunately $250 is out of the budget for me. It looks like calling ActiveX is also out of the question for me because I need the deployment to be as effortless as possible. The option to use the C# code seems promising, however my current form is already ...

  • Re: Getting user name

Hi Clay, THanks for the help again. I don't have experience working with ADService or CAML, so I'll have to explore these options. There was another solution posted by somebody on here that makes use of accessing WScript via ActiveX, but that displays a security dialogue every time the form is opened unless the form has Full Trust. ...

  • Getting user name

I have an InfoPath 2003 form published on SharePoint 2003. In this form I'd like to auto-populate the "User" field with the SharePoint login/profile name when the user fills out the form from SharePoint. I was able to set up a data connection to UserProfileService.asmx?WSDL, but when I opened the form up in SharePoint I get this ...

  • Re: Auto-Generated file name

Hi Clay, RE: Concat(Name, "-", Date, "-", ID) -- I have everything up to ID ... I'm struggling how to create a random number to populate the ID field only ONCE (when the form is initially created, not every time a user opens the form from SharePoint). Any thoughts? Thanks, Tom [quote user="Clay ...

  • Re: Unique form number/name generation?

[quote user="Ted Fitch"]Hi Jeff, You can do this without code. One way I have done this within InfoPath is to concenate a unique name by using: the user alias of the person submitting the form, data from one required field in the form, and then the now() function that returns the current date/time in ISO format. This ...

  • Referencing JavaScript variables

Hi guys, Is there a way to access JavaScript variables from the InfoPath data validation dialogue? Right now I'm populating an InfoPath text box using JavaScript and then hiding the text box, but I think it would be more efficient to reference the JavaScript variable directly from a validation rule. Thanks, 10bt

  • Re: Problems with repeating table validation

Hello, I found an elegant solution: edit the XML schema to set the 'minOccurs' attribute to 1. This article explains how to modify the schema: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827006 Cheers, Tom
