Again, it's a very low-level way to create unique identifiers but it works for me usually. Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 03-14-2013 Re: error message everytime i submit to sharepoint "document library" When you submit to a doc library, Infopath is saving a copy of the completed form there. So the error comes because the files have the same name and it doesn't want to overwrite the first file. When you create the data connection for submitting the form to the doc library it asks you to specify a file name. For this I usually create a simple ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 03-13-2013 Ignore blank entries in Sharepoint List My form uses multiple repeating tables and sends all data to a single Sharepoint List. This is all working well but if the user leaves some fields blank, they are getting submitted to the list as well. So I'm getting a bunch of list items that are functionally empty. Is there any way to get Infopath/Sharepoint to ignore blank fields? Not ... Did Infopath 2007 have it? I feel kinda dumb for missing that. But the form I'm building is a recreation of a custom java-driven form, so I'm probably getting tunnel vision in trying to make it look as much like the old form as possible. good to know ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 02-27-2013 Re: Mapping 2 fields to the same Sharepoint list column I just hit on a possible solution: I just changed the binding of the Other field to connect it to the parent drop-down menu. So that means I have one drop-down menu and one text box with the same field (in this case CommOrgsName). I have conditional formatting set for the Other text box so that it only appears when the user selects ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 02-27-2013 Re: Mapping 2 fields to the same Sharepoint list column EDIT: I said it produced an error but that was something I messed up. It went through but it's not capturing the Other field, not sure where it's going. What about property promotion? Maybe there's some way to rig that to get the Other field to work if both are present? I'm ultimately hoping to deploy this as a ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 02-27-2013 Re: Mapping 2 fields to the same Sharepoint list column Sure thing, look at the "CommOrgs" section, it's the last group in the xml. the drop-down menu is my:CommOrgsName and the Other field is my:CommOrgsOtherTxt. You'll see how they're both mapped to the Sharepoint column named "CommOrgs." Thanks for looking into this! Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 02-26-2013 Mapping 2 fields to the same Sharepoint list column My form contains several drop-down menus, but I need also give users the ability to enter their own values if it doesn't appear in the drop-down list. I need these "Other" fields to post to the same Sharepoint column as the parent drop-down. I tried doing this using the Infopath-to-Sharepoint-List Tool but when I tested it, only the ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 02-26-2013 Re: Multiple repeating tables into one Sharepoint List qRules is definitely working for multiple repeating tables! However I have a new issue, I am including "Other" fields for each drop-down menu so users can enter info if it doesn't appear in the list. I need these entries to appear in the same column as the drop-down menu. I thought I could do this by mapping the "Other" ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by chrisgee on 02-26-2013 Re: Multiple repeating tables into one Sharepoint List Thanks I am trying out qRules now. I also just got an upgrade to Infopath 2010, which seems to play much nicer with SP lists and repeating tables. Will qRules still be needed if I have Infopath 2010?
