I don't think I *ever* would have thought to try it that way. Let me ask you a couple questions about the way you did this if you don't mind: Microsoft's sytnax for substring: substring(field, start, end) substring(Master_Node, 1, (Sub_Node_Checker != "true") * string-length(Master_Node)) I would venture to ... Posted to General (Forum) by Shrout1 on 07-02-2013 Select value of field based on another node In my attached form I am trying to set the "Sub_Node" field (which is in a repeating group) equal to the "Master_Node" field if the user chooses "No" for the "Sub Node Differs from Master?" option button. If the user chooses "Yes" then they will be able to type in their own value. I'm not ... Posted to General (Forum) by Shrout1 on 07-02-2013 Dynamically connect to a secondary data source using a web service I am trying to connect a form to an XML file as a secondary data source dynamically in order to populate several drop down lists on the form. This could be looked at in the following way, "Form type A must select the 'Ford' model xml file. Form type B must select the 'GM' model xml file." In reality, I am trying to ... I realize that this topic is quite old, but can anyone futher expand upong the concept of "decoupling sum calculation and sum visualization"? Does this mean that I create one field that is not displayed on the form and then reference it in the field that *is* displayed? I've looked at Alec's blog - very interesting stuff - but I ... Posted to General (Forum) by Shrout1 on 04-25-2013 Re: Printing Contact selector control in InfoPath I had the same problem today with a form. It *appears* that using a people picker in InfoPath 2007 that was designed by InfoPath 2010 caused our problem. The solution is annoying, but it doesn't take too long. Copy all the items in your primary view and make a new view called "Print View". Paste them in. You could feasibly ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by Shrout1 on 01-09-2013 InfoPath 2007 Client form appears to submit, not present in library I watched an end user submit an InfoPath 2007 client based form after they completed filling it out. The submit button closes the form after it has been submitted via the data connection... The form closed and did not throw any errors. Initially the user received an "Access Denied" error. This was resolved by adding the domain to the ... Posted to SharePoint Integration (Forum) by Shrout1 on 11-26-2012 "Self Join" in an InfoPath form Here is a very good example (using MS Access): http://allenbrowne.com/ser-06.html I would like to create a repeating section that references itself; like an "Employee" repeating section that allows selection of other employees as a "Manager". Posted to General (Forum) by Shrout1 on 11-23-2012 InfoPath drop down field bound to the repeating section it is housed in I need to create a drop down list that references the repeating section it is part of. That reference will act as a filter for another drop down list. It seems that there is a "context node" issue with this functionality. The "master" drop down in Section 2 only lists "Section 2"; the "master" drop down ... Posted to General (Forum) by Shrout1 on 11-09-2012 Web form changes position or scrolls up when user selects field I have a web enabled InfoPath 2010 form. When the user selects a radio button towards the bottom of the form it queries the server and then scrolls all the way to the top of the page. Why is this? Is there anything that can be done to keep the form from automatically scrolling or changing the user's location on the page? Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Shrout1 on 10-24-2012 Re: Pre-populating a person picker with current user in a web form Just going to toss in a real quick response on this. Because I'm only a Site Collection Admin I don't have the ability to go into the farm and make the necessary permissions changes to allow access to the GetUserProfileByName web service. The back end modifications for this can be done, I just can't do them.
