  • Re: How can I save the ID from a combo box?

Thanks for that Hilary. Before I saw your reply I actually submitted the form via a web service. The data connection wizard seemed to allow me to select my form field (combo box) and associate it with the web service property for the ID. I am also interested in your solution as I want to learn the xml side of things. I am just a little ...

  • Re: Newbie Needs Clarification of When to Use Web Services

Thanks for your reply. Are we saying then that we need to set a seperate data connection for each text box, combo box etc or can we set one and pick up the different methods within that one connection? Thanks

  • How can I save the ID from a combo box?

I am trying to do a common thing in other languages. My combo box stores the NameID and the Name itself. I am trying to pick up the ID of a combo box field and save it to a table that would hold the data of the infopath form. Is it possible to reference the control in code and pick up the ID so that I can send it to a save procedure?

  • Re: Newbie Needs Clarification of When to Use Web Services

There does not seem to be a form load event as in other languages such as VBA or VB.net. I was trying to populate my combo and text boxes from a web service. I have several combo boxes and at first I thought I could set a data connection to a web service to get the data. Unsure if this is the correct way of doing things. From there I thought ...

  • Re: Newbie Needs Clarification of When to Use Web Services

Thanks for your reply. Would that be the only time you use web services? Being used to VB.net I thought you could put everything through code, but I have seen people using web services to write to and return data and I wondered if there is a reason for this. What about sending InfoPath forms via email........would web services be ...

  • Newbie Needs Clarification of When to Use Web Services

I am brand new to InfoPath and find a few items confusing. Can you tell me when and why you should use web services to handle data for the InfoPath form. I understand there is the ability to show an InfoPath form in a browser and I wondered if this is when you use web services to return and write data. When writing the code for InfoPath ...

  • Re: Where is InfoPath local data held?

Thanks for the reply. Looking at the button it seems to be set for email. However, when I save the form (to any location) I notice there is an xml file which when opened displays my data. Would this be correct? Also I presume a form is not the same as a form say in MS Access. That is my confusion right now. When I see an InfoPath screen I ...

  • Where is InfoPath local data held?

I am completely new to InfoPath and trying to understand how it works. I am using InfoPath 2007. Apparently if you are working with a local form it will cache the data locally. I filled out the sample expense report form and clicked submit. I cannot see where the data I entered is saved to. Is it in an xml file? I looked in ‘C:\Documents and ...
