You'll need to create a SharePoint event handler. Coding and admin access to the SharePoint site is required....

Hi BarMatt80 and welcome!
Forms-based workflow is your friend. You can create user roles and open rules to do what you want. In the InfoPath Designer, go to Tools->User Roles and create the user roles for your approvers and timekeepers. If the approvers are active directory based, you can use our ADWS (Active Directory Web Service) to get ...

Scott Roberts and Hagen Green wrote a good book called "Designing Forms For Microsoft Office InfoPath and Forms Services 2007" that does a good job of calling out what does and does not work for IPFS (InfoPath Forms Services). The fact that there are many features which do not work in IPFS is legend. While v2 of IPFS is coming and will ...

Hi JBorean,
Thank you for the excellent feedback. We will work on better documentation around the areas you mentioned. We are planning an update to the tool this summer to include other features like OCR and Encryption. We will probably release better documentation for the current version before those features come out. If you have other features ...

Hi JustInPolitics and welcome,

Hi Crystal,
Sorry to hear you're having problems. Of course, we have this working with browser-based forms and we'd be happy to have someone call you and show you a live Webinar of how it works. My guess is that you didn't set up the UDC files for the data connections or forgot to approve them, or something like that. We should have ...

Hi SaxKnicks and welcome,
Sure, if we get enough requests for it, we could do it. Your request is the first one we have received. If you can find 4 people willing to pay $250 for the new ADWS, we can add the feature.
Cheers,
Patrick

You can set the parameter to point to a field in your form when you create the data connection. Just make sure the form has data set correctly before it queries. You could also use an Open Rule to set the PersonId and then query the Web service (in other words, don't use the default query on open, but use the Tools->Form Options->Open ...

Hi Ran Sagy and welcome to InfoPathDev!
Microsoft is actively working on the next version of InfoPath. They are making a big investment in InfoPath. There is no plan to go to Word. Word has two big limitations - deployment of XML based forms to client computers is more costly because it requires installing packages, and it's too easy to break ...

The InfoPath 2007 Designer has a File->Import feature that supports Word Documents. Have you looked at that? Or, are you trying to import a document into an XML? If the latter, you can bind the Word doc to an XML schema and use the File->Import Form Data from the InfoPath Editor. This will require defining an XSLT file and changing the ...
