Hi Stuart,
I'm not sure exactly why you are using code. You should be able to do this without code using rules and actions to query the Web service and set values based on it. If you have written code in an OnAfterChange event handler it's possible that InfoPath locks the field that caused the event to fire since that would produce ...

Hi Doug,
InfoPath has poor print formatting. Here are some ideas to help you:
Use InfoPath 2007 which includes better support for fields in print headers and footers. I assume you are already using this.
Use a separate Print View which is simpler and has data that fits on one page or has page breaks inserted into it to separate sections. ...

In the designer, go to Data Source in the taskpane and add a field. Choose data type of Hyperlink (anyURI). Click OK. Drag the new field to the view. Now you have a link in your view. You can format it to look like a button. You'll have to use rules to set it equal to the link you want to let them click on. Good luck!

Questions:
Did you admin approve the UDC connection?
Did you admin adpprove the InfoPath form on SharePoint? This is only required if you have code. Not sure, so worth doing.

Hi DGA,
What version are you using? Perhaps you have an old version. For instance, I do not see syntax highlighting on the var and from keywords - maybe that's because you have an older version of LINQ. On the other hand, maybe you just cut and pasted from something other than VS.

Hi NWill,
Our DBXL Web Service supports your scenario today. We have a separate "system" form that keeps assignment information (i.e. the history of your user assignments). Anyway, we can show you a demo if you are interested. We use the taskpane to show workflow status, taxonomy info and history of assignments.
You can also use ...

Hi Shaan,
There were two software vendors that built browser-based viewers for IP2003. One was called Unique World - I think they went out of business. And, another was a South Korean firm which used an ActiveX control. They may still be around. I forget their name, but it was something like InfoView or something like that. Google is your friend ...

This is one of the biggest problems with InfoPath. Matt Faus has blogged a solution on InfoPathDev (hint: you need to search for it since you are FREELOADING too much these days) that you can reference but it will require code and it isn't a panacea.
