this is what i was thinking as well. the only thought I had was, could one hook into a post close event to do it or something? So what i mean is, click a delete button on the form which first closes the form and then deletes

This might be kind of tricky because the form is open (by the user), and as far as I know in order to delete a form it cannot be in use (open) by any user.

This is a classic problem in InfoPath: emails look funny.

Yes, this is possible using InfoPath. The method you are describing is called cascading dropdowns, can be achieved without code and there are tutorials online to guide you thru the steps. If you want to grant permissions to the DBXLUsers group to ALL document types, you would add the group to web.config.
If you want to grant permissions only to a specific document type, then use the Permissions tab to add document type level permissions.

Fiddler does show me the postbacks (and how long it has been since a postback), but it doesn't show me the number of actions that the browser has queued. There doesn't seem to be a lot of details as to what causes an "action", so we are not sure how to design our forms to reduce the likelihood of exceeding ...
