You're welcome. We'd love to see the form. You can email it to me separately. I'll send you a note.

Thank you for sharing your solution in such detail.
For folks who want to copy paste the formulas above into the formula dialog just check the box to ''Edit XPath (advanced)''. What this does is show and allow you to enter the formula raw. Note that the my:txtStart will have to be the correct node in your form.

Is this a question about how XML Maps in Excel work? What do you mean by the appending button? Thanks.

InfoPath may not be the correct tool for your situation. Or there is something you're trying to do with the many tweaks that there might be a better option we could suggest.
The idea behind having a single common template with multiple form data files running off that is that then all the data is consistent. So then you can gather that data ...

Glad to help. Let us know if you have questions on getting that working or other things. :)

Ah, that might explain it. You are running a very old verison of InfoPath. I encourage you to upgrade to SP 2 which includes a whole host of features you're missing out on (rules, calculations, performance improvements, bug fixes). You can get that release from the link on our home page or the Microsoft update site.

Ah this is a great question. There is not a way to export to the same sheet. However, with InfoPath 2007 and Excel 2007 when you do the export it automatically creates an XML map so that you can open the workbook in Excel and import subsequent InfoPath files.
You can do the same import in Excel 2003 but you have to manually create the XML map.

Are you in the designer? This is the same command in InfoPath 2003 and 2007. Thx.

Ah ok. This will depend on the language you are using. I would do a Google search on '' 'dos commands' and '<insert your language> ''. You can put the code in the button event handler. You'll have to create a variable to copy the node data into and then use that in your code to pass it to the command line.

Hello Wendy and welcome to our forum! To do this you go to ''Tools::Convert Main Data Source''. This will allow you to rebind to your SQL server and reimport the structure. Note, it will try to be smart about fixup and rebinding to existing nodes, rules, etc, but you will need to double check everything is working properly.
