Well, are you using validation rules right now? Or have you just set the fields as cannot be blank? If you are not showing the ribbon, but your own "submit" button instead, you could just add conditional formatting rules to the button to disable it - if "this" is blank or "that" is blank, etc. I'm attaching a ...

Hi - welcome! So I might just add some view switching rules on the Form Load rules to handle for this, or you could use rules to disable controls in the form - up to you. But for the first item, for example, if the result of the userName() function is equal to the creator account ...

So - are you using "cannot be blank" on the fields? If so - you will need to change that. Because in InfoPath, our only option to save data with button rules is to Submit, and submitting runs the form validation, which means that your new "save" button would not work. The only way to ignore validation rules is to set the ...

Hmmm - I'm not quite sure I understand. I do know that we can't submit data to a secondary data source with InfoPath out of the box, so I'm wondering if that's part of your issue. Can you attach a copy of your form to a reply under the Options tab?

Hi - I think I would try to leverage an additional field for this. It doesn't have to show on the form. I'd probably name it "Status". When the user clicks "Save" you could set the status to "Saved" and when they click "Submit" you could use submit rules to set this field to "Submitted" as ...

I'm not sure. I'd guess you may not be adding rules in the correct place. Did you try the form I gave you? Here's a screenshot of the rule I added.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you mean. Maybe attach a screenshot?

Your submit connection is using that for the form name. The form won't submit without a name. I'd add submit rules and just set that name if it is blank. See attached. Right click the attached file and save locally. Right click the saved file and select design. In the ribbon, select the data tab and Form Submit to see the new rule I added ...

I'm sorry, I didn't read your initial post closely enough. The formatting rules on your submit button look fine. I do see that you are submitting to a library with a field, FormName, providing the name for the submitted file. But I don't see any rules or logic setting that field? Can you verify you set a name in the FormName field ...

Great - so add your conditions back gradually and test publish in between so you can figure out where the error is :)
