Yes, Bill, this should be no problem. First of all, I suggest using my method of auto-generating filenames for your form submissions. View that here:
InfoPath – Auto-Generating Filenames
Using this concept, you get unique filenames that the user does not type in. You may already be doing something like this. If so, then ...

That's a 2007 function, so you don't have a way of getting username that I know of. 2003 is about to be obsolete with the release of 2010, so if there is any way you can convince your organization to move ahead at least to 2007, it would benefit them (and you) immensely. Office 2003 is very old now.

You still need to do what everyone said about setting that field using a Form Load rule. If you use a default value, then it only sets the data once - on initial open. if you set a form load rule to set that field with the current userName(), then it will always keep track of the current user's identity. From there, you ...

Why did data validation not work? With data validation saying "field is blank," the control will have a red-dashed border. You can't expect a popup when no action has been taken. Focus doesn't have much meaning, but if they do tab into a field with invalid data, it does show a screen tip at minimum. I ...

You just have to get your logic correct. It can be done easily. When creating data validation logic statements, EXACT syntax is required. Things like "yes" do not equal "YES" or "Yes" and sometimes aren't the same as "TRUE" or "1" so you have to be very careful. Do one ...

Sure, it shouldn't be a problem. You can either use a basic SharePoint Designer workflow or maybe just add another Email Submit data connection.
Whichever way you do it, you basically need to trigger it ONLY when the form is complete. To do this, simply make sure you have some sort of field (hidden or not) in the form template ...

I don't know that anything is easier because of Enterprise unless you're talking about browser-enabled forms, and those are MUCH harder to deal with than rich client forms, but they give you more flexibility. I have a lot of experience with browser forms, so I can help along the way. Be sure you're familiar with each of my ...

Just as an FYI, I would say that the question is not relevant to InfoPathDev unless your company is moving to MOSS Enterprise. Do you know if it is going to be MOSS Enterprise or MOSS Standard? Enterprise includes Forms Services, which then allows you to do browser-enabled forms. MOSS Standard does not, but at least you will have a ...

My requested changes would not have been relevant to your issue, but rather were some other things I noticed just from looking at the form.
If the data is in the XML, then it should display in the controls. I have never encountered such a thing, but at least we knows it's there and can narrow down the troubleshooting. ...

I assume you're talking about the client fields like Client Title and Rank. I see you have set default values so that they equal the value of the list item field relevant to the client name chosen in the pulldown. This looks proper and should work. Check this for me...create a new form that has these fields filled out and ...
