I'd probably start by trying to track down where the whitespace stems from by using color. Set the cell background to a color other than white - then check in the browser if the white above your gray text entry field is now that color.

What does it look like in Filler?

I should be more clear. I have no idea why it is working in one and not the other. I'm suggesting republishing because it is an easy thing to do that won't hurt and may make a difference. But if that doesn't work for you, hopefully someone else will have a suggestion on something you could try.

For the admin approved, I wouldn't use Central Admin but SharePoint Management Shell. As to republishing to a library - sounds like things are currently broken, so it seems like there is no harm in trying that.

How annoying. Can you attach a screenshot under the options tab that shows the issue? That may give us a better idea of what's going wrong. You may need to save the form as source files (under the publish menu) and inspect the view XSL file to see if you can pinpoint the issue there - then you can manually correct the view and pack the files ...
-
I'd probably start by disabling, uninstalling, installing and re-enabling all the forms. You can do this in the SharePoint Management Shell - faster than using the UI in Central Admin.
-
Set the library to always open in the browser - that should be under the advanced settings.

You might try having this user remove the template from her cache - open InfoPath filler, find the form under the New category, right click and remove. May also want to make sure she has all Windows & Office patches installed.

You are using InfoPath for your list form? There should be a checkbox for displaying unique items only in the dropdown settings....

You need to add a filter when you pick the name and email - so, when you select the node, you'll see a Filter data in the lower left - that lets you indicate which row has the data you want. If you need a hand, please attach a copy of your template under the Options tab in a reply and I can help you out. :)
