XPath can be very useful, and not too confusing once you get the hang of it.
Anyway, if you want to hide a section when a user is not in a certain role, you should be able to use XPath like the following in the conditional formatting dialog:
not(xdXDocument:GetDOM("roles")/roles/role[name = "Account ...

I don't believe the default value on a field can populate a repeating field like that, and this doesn't sound like something that can be done with rules either. It wouldn't be too difficult to do with code, but are you comfortable with code?
But may I first ask what you plan to do with the field once it is copied ...

IP2003 does not have built-in support for C#. I can try to figure out a way to do this in JScript tomorrow, if nobody else responds by then.

The problem is that the code I wrote above is C# code and your form is set up to use JScript code. Which version of InfoPath are you using?

Hello zartr,
I think this will work:
XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
doc.LoadXml(MainDataSource.CreateNavigator().InnerXml);

In C# for InfoPath 2007, the following would do the trick:
XPathNavigator nodeToCopy = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator().SelectSingleNode("my:myFields/my:field1", NamespaceManager);
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(nodeToCopy.Value))
{
Clipboard.SetText(nodeToCopy.Value, ...

Simple! Create an expression box with a red asterisk next to the list box and set its conditional formatting to: When count(XPath of list box's bound field) > 0, hide this control.

What exactly are you trying to do here? If you just want the index of each row, the XPath position() will give you that.
Nevermind that. Thanks to swathip for the quick answer :-)

There are a variety of ways to accomplish what you describe in your first question. One thing you can do is the following:
Create a new view that is similar to the original view, but make it read-only
Change the original view's properties and uncheck "Show on the View menu when filling out the form" (you may want to do ...

To clarify Jim's post, you should not typically need to specify a username and password in the installer if your network service account is able to create sites on IIS and has admin access to your SQL server.
