Re: Parameter to a multi-table secondary data source

Hi FletchSm, Thanks for posting!  First off, your question is more of a SQL coding question, not really InfoPath. Second, writing code in your form is not a best practice because it increases IT cost to maintain across multiple XSNs. Now, I know you're a developer and those two points mean absolutely nothing to you. You just want a ...

Re: How to retrieve data and auto-populate multiple rows of a table

Hi Olechka and welcome, Are you able to get all of the values into a secondary data source? If so, you can then use qRules to copy a table from your secondary data source to your main data source. The other way to do it for single XML files (that you file->import or file->merge) is to create an import XSLT and add it to your manifest.xsf. ...

InfoPath Forms 101: Codeless = Less Cost

Pie in the Sky? InfoPath is the best forms editor on the market today because it lets you create rich forms with structured data without having to rely on a developer to code features. Business process owners can quickly prototype and publish forms with no dependency on developers or IT staff to deploy the forms. Less code means less cost to you ...

Re: Conditional formatting based on New Record ?

Hi Catharine, You can put the datafields section in an optional section that is hidden based on a field in a secondary data source (you can add a little XML file that has one value in it) and set that value when the New record button is pressed. Hope that makes sense! Patrick

Re: SubmitToSHarePointList issue

Hi Gus and welcome to our forum! Glad to hear you got it working initially. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the manual edits. Can you attach the XSN file to this post (or the mapping.xml file)? One thing you may want to do is to remove qRules, recreate the mapping using the tool, and reinject qRules into your form. But, we're here ...

Re: InfoPath form sending NULL values to my Web Service query (input) parameters after moving solution to new environment [urgent issue]

Hi John with 0 List, and welcome! I think you are right. The data connection in the XSF (the manifest.xsf file in the XSN) is not being updated correctly when you republish. It should not matter because you are using UDCX files - good job on that! However, there's something in that XSF that is causing you trouble. Maybe it's time to go ...

Re: Refresh SharePoint data in offline template?

Hi Peter, You are hitting the limitations in InfoPath's 2007 implementation of secondary data source caching. Life's a beach, you know, and the goal is to surf. OK, so enough theory, SharePoint 2010 has Groove integration and "spaces". This may give you the functionality you need. We haven't smoked it yet. I suggest you ...

Re: IT Department Issues: Infopath and Sharepoint

Hey T-Bone Safari, One option is to create a URN based InfoPath form that installs on computers via e-mail (or an MSI) and has qRules built into it so that when they submit it maps data to a SharePoint list and sends e-mail with the XML attached. That would require InfoPath rich client though.

Re: Submit InfoPath Data to Multi tables in MS-SQL Server

Hi Jinh and welcome to the forum! InfoPath does not natively support submitting to multiple tables from a data source created from an XML schema (the default option when creating a form). You have to either re-create your form from the database or use a Web Service like Qdabra's DBXL. Or, YOU CAN WRITE CODE! :)  ... seems like that ...

Re: Database Mapping questions ..

Hi Oka-san, If your form was created from a database (i.e. main submit to a database not to DBXL Web Service), you will have to either recreate the form from scratch, or manually modify the XSN to break the connection. If you choose the latter option you will end up with a suboptimal schema. This is why we tell people to create forms from XML ...
