So it looks like Coita Thierry has already answered on the French forum (http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/thread/20404.aspx):

Try Conditional Formatting instead, make your condition such that whenever a row does not match the unique ID, hide that row. Conditional Formatting works a bit differently from filters but I believe it should be okay in your case.

I am no Java expert but I think you might be using a wrong control...
"InfoPath.Application" is used for external script automation and does not represent an OLE server, that is why you would be getting error -2147221164 (aka 0x80040154 = REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG).

You have a pretty complex scenario so it's be best if it was possible for you to share out the solution XSN. Just make sure that the issue still reproduces without the rest of the winform code.

Full Trust solutions is a bit of a pain especially in InfoPath 2003 (in 2007 you can actually preview full-trust solutions without signing/deploying them first).
In any event, the first error message was asking you to install the solution on your machine.
The way to do it is by using the RegForm.exe tool from the InfoPath 2003 SDK which you can ...

Well, in general, using the InfoPath OM is the same in both JScript and VBScript...
Here is an example of an OnLoad handler which queries a web service (assuming you have added "TestConnection" ws adapter in InfoPath Designer):

If I understand what you are trying to do correctly, this is pretty easy to achieve:
Simply double-click on each of your fields in the first row and set the default value to the same thing but specify that the first row has to be used:
1. In the data source tree, double-click on the field of interest (for example, ...
