Hi and welcome to our forum. The best way is to create a separate XML file with this information and then add it as a Data Source which the dropdown can use. The XML file would look something like:
<StatesProvinces>
<StateProvince>California</StateProvince>
<StateProvince>Oregon</StateProvince>

Ah ok. This requires code. You need to do set the filename in the OnSaveRequest event. The method to use is SetSaveAsDialogFileName. You can also set the default location using SetSaveAsDialogLocation. For more information on using these check in the InfoPath SDK.

Ah. You might want to ask the question on some SharePoint forums (search google or msn). This is a pretty unique question. Thanks. :)

We are tracking a few bugs on security warnings between InfoPath and IE. The likely reason your error was cleared is that the InfoPath 2007 install migrates your form cache which essentially resets some stuff (too complex to explain here).
For your validation errors question, InfoPath enforces validation for submit so the server data is always ...

This depends on which content you want to change. Do you want to alter the XML or the subject or other? If you want to alter the XML you have to make the changes directly in the data source then execute the send email method. InfoPath sends whatever is in the primary data source at the time you send the email.

Ah ok. I didn't realize your dropdown is bound to your secondary data source.
It sounds like you need to move all this into code since you want to build the SQL query on the fly at a specific point. In code then you can manually set the value of the dropdown secondary DOM node as needed. Trying to mix in rules in this instance may be more ...

Yes, your logic would work for the hyperlink and is useful.
[off topic]
I would encourage you to try to educate users to use the toolbars in the application. I understand how at first you want to make the form self-contained, but there are some things in this new application/form paradigm that InfoPath presents that you will just not be able to ...

Actually, you can set the default value for a dropdown that uses a lookup for its values but it's not obvious. What you have to do is set the default value in the node itself in the Data Source Pane. Go there and double-click the node to which your dropdown is bound. There you can type in the default value. You have to be careful that the ...

Ah ok. When you say you want the list to link to Company instead of Name I'm not sure what you mean. When you connect to a SharePoint contact list from the InfoPath data connections wizard you should be shown a screen to select the columns from that list you want to pull down. If you have a company column there you can select it.

Hello and welcome to our forum. To do this you will have to write custom code to do the submit to SharePoint becuase the default submit to SharePoint functionality in InfoPath does not allow parameterizing the target save location.
