Hi Harry and welcome!
Absolutely, this is doable. Have you downloaded the InfoPath 2003 SDK? It has great examples and a CHM file (help file) with examples of OnSave event handler that you should write. Changing the name is also doable withing this event handler. Qdabra Software provides inexpensive InfoPath consulting help for people and we do ...

Hi Guido and thanks for coming out of the closet!
The code in your form is modifying the data source and that is why InfoPath is complaining. You need to either restrict the signature to a sub-section in the form, or have the code modify a secondary data source (both are doable). Let us know if you need help. We provide InfoPath consulting and ...

Hi Louise,
You must have added new fields that were required (or deleted fields that existed in the old form). You can do a custom upgrade or just publish as a separate XSN (and keep the old XSN for the old XML forms). If you need help, we could look at it for you, but we'd need to receive a support incident retainer in advance. You can go to ...

What happens if you add an expression box formatted as HTML that points at the same string? Best practice is to use a link not a button.
What is the security level of your form? Default is Domain Trust. If you make it Full Trust does this change the behavior?

Hi Evvo1961 and welcome,
Qdabra Software pays for this free forum. Our goal is to reply to 90% of weekly forum posts (within the week). We provide many coding samples and advice. However, we have to make money to continue providing this service, so we have developed some very inexpensive tools to address the most common gaps in InfoPath. The most ...

Hi Lawson and welcome,
I assume you mean update an expression box with Now every time someone changes a field on the current view. You'll need to add a rule to the root node in the main data source. In the InfoPath designer, go to Data Source and make sure Main is selected. Find the topmost group node underneath the root node. For forms ...

SQL End Points are represented as Web Methods with a schema that is parameterized. When you create an InfoPath form from this schema (or a receive data connection) InfoPath infers a schema. That schema is stored in the XSN as an XSD file. If the Web Methods change (because a parameter changes), guess what? You have to convert your main data ...

SQL End Points are a tightly coupled solution with the same problems I have posted about many times before. Good luck. We'll stop preaching the gospel to you since you seem to be following another religion.

Hi Jarecki,
You need to concatenate it together using a rule. It's a bit of a pain. Best thing to do to get return value is to write code or use qRules... :)

Hi rZ3A8zj8neCW3K,
We get asked this question a lot in many different forms and it's why we have developed the qRules library (free trial now available - see ads on top and bottom). qRules 2.1 supports pushing data to SharePoint lists from an InfoPath form. You can also use it to pull data from a SharePoint list and copy the contents to your ...
