Update2: I think I know what is going on...Win 7 comes with two versions of IE; 32bit and 64 bit. My default IE opens the 32bit version. When I opened 64bit IE on my machine and tryed to open Infopath form template from SharePoint - no go! I get the same error this user gets!! Greetings,
I am attempting to create an InfoPath web-based form where users can come, fill the form and submit it. One field of this form is a search where a user types in text, clicks search and chooses the correct finding.
I have gotten most of it already done except for the search piece. Here is my current setup.

I was able to set the source to read-only when I added it.

Wow - I'm not sure on this one. You've ruled out the machine, since you can log in as other users and not have a problem, so it seems likely it is something in the profile or the IE settings. Painful, but you could always compare the IE settings between a profile on the machine that works and the one that does not.

And opening the existing XML from SharePoint also results in SharePoint trying to open the form in the browser?

I didn't expect those to work either - just grasping at straws.
Had user try your idea - open InfoPath app via sharepoint url to template or to an existing .xml. Both opened fine and new template submitted fine. User still can NOT re-open the submitted form from SharePoint but can through InfoPath.
