From the screenshot it looks like you're doing this via the field's default value. Is this correct?
You'll have to set up rules, because obtaining the manager's manager depends on previous actions. I enumerated those actions in my post from 6/25.

I tried a similar permissions set up in DBXL v2.4 and couldn't repro the issue. I'd like to try on DBXL v2.3, same build number as yours.

It's impossible to say with 100% certainty without seeing the rules, but I think this might be solved by the use of current(). Can you take a look at the article in this URL and let us know if it helps to solve the issue?

It's hard to pinpoint where the issue lies, but if I were you I'd start by comparing the machines, as far as OS and its updates, and Office version and its service packs. If you find a difference between the 30+ that work and the 2 that don't, then it might be as easy as installing an update or service pack. Good luck.

I've implemented a similar rule (to set a blank field to a value before submitting) on other forms, just not with the contact selector. The Contact Selector is a bit difficult in the browser, some people avoid it altogether.

No, no es necesario programar. De inicio no me parece una tarea difícil, aunque puede tornarse complicada dependiendo de la cantidad de campos, dados, bibliotecas, y tal.

So the form is published to your local drive? Or are you publishing it to a network drive? To SharePoint?
Does the form have data connections to a server? If so, is that server Local Intranet?

Why don't you set up a rule such that, on form submit, if the field is blank, you populate it with some dummy data?
