• Re: How to get the next ID from a SharePoint List

You can't rely on it because multiple people can be writing to SharePoint at the same time. You need to first submit your form and then requery it using a SharePoint list adapter (in the same form) and get the ID by filtering on some other unique attribute (filename or title?). Then set the ID into the form and resubmit it. In other ...

  • Re: Open File Error w/ addition of User Roles Functionality

Hi J, Most likely this is an IE cache coherence issue. This InfoPath bug exists and happens more frequently than you can imagine. Please ask the users to close all InfoPath forms and go to Windows->Start and launch InfoPath. They'll get the "Getting Started" dialog. Next, have them select All Forms and find the one that is ...

  • Re: qRules file name - SaveToSharePoint

Hi Big E, Happy to hear it's working for you! Thanks for the positive comments. One easy solution is to not allow users to subsequently attach. Just replace the qRules link's "http://" prefix the "file://" prefix so that users can open the attachment directly from the form and edit it. Then they have to open ...

  • Re: handling data overload

Hi Desmo, Here are three best practices: Use a Web Service to enable a) parameterized filtering, b) browser support, and c) data-level abstraction (Qdabra's DBXL is a good example and handles large datasets for many companies today) Save XML data to database for 100% fidelity on subsequent opens (data types roundtrip without any ...

  • Re: Can not open file that was attach to infopath form

Hi DatVT, Well, first you want to have two controls in your form - one that stores the file and another that stores a link to the file. qRules has logic to save the file attachment to a document library and replace it with a link. It just uses an OnChange event handler to trigger that. You can download the free trial of qRules 2.3 from ...

  • Re: Submit to web service

Hi Bill, Did you convert your Web Service data connection into a universal data connection (UDC) and save to your data connection library?

  • Re: InfoPath + SAP + Web Service

If you navigate to the SAP Web Service in your browser can you see the Web Service Description? If you can, it's nto a timeout or certificate issue. I'd try that first to make sure you can access the Web Service. It's possible you have the wrong URL. I don't know anything about SAP Web Services. Are they SOAP or REST based?

  • Re: Unable to e-mail form which allows users to input

Hi TF1216, We do this all the time. Here's the general technique: Make your form restricted security (Tools->Form Options->Security) and send the users the XSN. Recipients will double click the attachment and fill out the form. Add a submit button that sends the form back to you as an attachment. Also, see Mel's blog on this: ...

  • Re: Adding a File Attachment control on a browser-enabled form

Hi g21cincy, I suppose you could write code to do this, and I have heard that SQL has some support for images (maybe in more recent versions), but we don't recommend adding code to your InfoPath form because it increases your IT maintenance cost. Most people end up with hundreds of form templates and maintaining code throughout each becomes a ...
