Yeah - that wasn't quite what I meant. Sorry for being unclear.
First off, I was assuming this was a table you were displaying, not writing to - that it was from a secondary data source. Is that the case? Or is it in your main data source?
I was just intending that you do something more like the attached.

I'm using InfoPath 2007. I have a footer in my form that prints the date and time and userName(), but only the date and time are printing on the printed version. I am setting a field called txtCurrentUser with the function userName() in the forms Open behavior rules. I clear the field first, then populate with current ...

[quote user="Patrick Halstead"]Hi Susan,
I'm attaching a sample from a webinar I did last year. Expand the data source and take a look at the default value on the /my:myFields/my:AccountIdAggregation/my:People node. It has a double eval that it gets from a People Picker.
Good luck!

Hi Hilary,

I dropped the Error, Success, Result nodes in the view, it error because the text field had invalid characters, I figured out that users copy paste into the memo field from Excel and it was taking the format. Because this field was not currently being used I just removed the mapping to this field and now it is consistent.

It also states that the solution ...

Hi ,
How to select first entry in an inofpath dropdown list ?
Thanks
-
Thank you Jimmy. In this case my code (based on somebody else's sample code) did make use of the SharePoint object model so the ddl was required. I did manage to find it, but then ran into permission issues because my form now needs to be sandboxed (I mentioned this in another post which was also kindly ansewered by you).
Thanks.

It is a browser form. Should have mentioned that. Filler mode is not an option.
I'll look into qRules, but I already saw that this also requires sandboxed forms. Curretnly the code is less of a problem than the permission, but worth looking in to.
Than you.
