That's not exactly right.  Because I have revisioned many other forms and the content types are always added onto the original promoted columns.  I've attached an example of one that is working properly. This article you reference is not the same issue that I am having.  I have: 1 form created - say version 1. In which I have property promotion on several of the fields in Infopath.  When I published that form as the site content type and then add that site content type to a library it allows those fields to be part of the sharepoint ...

Hilary - sorry took so long to get back on this.  It's not a problem.  The majority of my users wouldn't know how to open the xml and those that would have that knowledge don't have access to that document library.
