Do you fill out the form in a web browser? Or does the form open in InfoPath on user's machines?

Hilary, Thank you for the reply. There are no rules on the field. I don't know the difference between a filler and browser form.

Is this a browser or a filler form? Are there any rules that may affect the field? You can right click the field in the data source task pane and select the Rule Inspector to see.

I have a simple text field in an InfoPath 2010 form. Somewhat regularly, after saving the form, the update entered into the text field doesn't save. It is working with the .udcx data connection! After figuring out what to do without a developer, and then waiting until the developer got back to set the permissions correctly, it now works like a charm! Even the super-secret listguid parameter!!!
